What is the ADI Part 1 test?
The ADI Part 1 is a computer-based theory test for prospective driving instructors. It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions and 75 hazard perception clips. It tests your knowledge of the Highway Code, driving theory, and instructional techniques.
What is the pass mark for ADI Part 1?
You need 85/100 on the multiple-choice section (with at least 20/25 in each of the 4 topic bands) and 57/75 on the hazard perception section. You must pass both parts in the same sitting.
How much does the ADI Part 1 test cost?
The DVSA fee for ADI Part 1 is £81.
How many times can I take ADI Part 1?
You have 3 attempts to pass ADI Part 1 within 2 years of your first attempt. If you fail 3 times, you must wait 2 years before applying again.
How long does ADI Part 1 take?
The multiple-choice section lasts 90 minutes (100 questions). The hazard perception section follows immediately. Total test time is approximately 2 hours.
